THE OTHER MOTHER

The guy who took pics of the band did a good job.

I like the background in this poster so I decided to recycle it. You will notice it on a few of the posters I've designed.

Most of the work was already done since the pic was great as is.  I just added some lighting effects and text.

There isn't much I can say about this.  The idea or concept was given to me.  I just had to find images and use the right tools to get it all to come together.

BONKERS

The posters were designed to be placed under UV lights.  So I had to use a lot of white and bright colours.

The guy in this poster is so hot!!!  I tried to use the blue swirly design to give it a beach- like feel of summer.

The logo I designed for Bonkers.   I designed a few logos at first. None of them of which I was content with.  So I left it and gave up. The next morning I was just looking at the ones I had already designed preparing to hand them in with hopes that they would like it anyways.  So I started fooling around when suddenly this design started coming together.  I had finish the last touches a min before I handed it in.  They were very impressed... Sjoe!

Another UV party poster.  This was the second one I did since the first didn't project what the party was about.  They were looking for specific images to represent what the crowd could expect to see at the party.  This was the final result. It all eventually came together easily.

This took a few tries before I got something that worked.

CAFE VACCA MATTA GOLDEN HORSE CASINO

I was kinda tired and burnt out from a long day at work.  So I wanted a poster that suggested UV but not have club like images. Rather colour and text would project the feel of the party.

The original poster was a bit dark and didn't really project the whole Indian feel to it.  I'm a bit dark in nature as you may have picked up so I had to brighten it up.  I still didn't want it to be the standard Bollywood structured poster.   I used a lot of colour and lighting effects to give it a brighter feel.  At the time It looked alright to me and I got a lot of positive feed back from Saffron.  When I look at it now I'm not so sure I'm happy with it.  I feel it needs to be neatened out more.  Don't always enjoy looking at it since it's over and done with and i certainly don't have time to do it over for kicks.

Quick and easy design.  Had a long list of posters that were needed immediately.  So I took the quick and easy finish off.

FTV FLORIDA RD

This is one of the first FTV designs that I did.  I was still new to the design world so i kept it simple.  the manager of the venue helped me conceptualise and find images.

I enjoyed playing around with the logo and the partial image leaving something for the mind to fill in.  The Lady's legs and breakfast don't seems to fit when it comes to subject matter but I though the brand needed to be outrageous yet sophisticated at the same time.

This party never happened but I enjoyed focusing on text as part of the design and I like the name of the party.  I'm a bit text shy so I never put much effort in fonts etc which I do understand is important.  So here was my chance to play around a bit.  I had to use what i had though because of time constraints.

This was a special promo menu that was done as a poster format.  Kept it simple.

SEPTEMBER 2011 - EVOLUTION THEORY Chapter 2

So as I mentioned before if you want something and you have tried three times already and it hasn't worked find another way!

Do things differently. At least once a week try doing something differently even if it is something simple like going to work but using a different route.

Next step is understanding your internal dialogue.  Best time to do this is perhaps in the morning.  Jot down what's on your mind.  It can be absolutely anything, even if it is just something random, like a song.  The next day, if what you have written down is not useful change the thought to a more positive one.

To overcome your fears...

Think about the thing you are not looking forward too... once you got the mental picture, freeze it.  There are various methods that you can use but this is the one I have chosen.  Make the visual black and white in your head. Imagine that it is being projected on a cinema screen. I like to add large black pixels and distortion lines running across like the old skool cinema projectors did.  Make the screen smaller and smaller till it is far away.

This is how it works or helps.  If you are afraid of flying. the actually fear you have is off the plane crashing.  So if you think about it, your visual picture of the plane falling to it's destruction has not occurred or in other words it isn't real. It is YOU creating this visual.  Trying to change the mental pic to a more positive one can be difficult.  So by making the scenario in your head as though it is all just one big made up movie you are teaching your brain as to what is real and what is not. Simple.

Okay so September was a like an electrical surge....

To sum up things...

our land lady sold our flat and forgot to mention it to us.
