Little Foxx on the BIG BOX

Justice League: New Frontier

A paint brush stretches across the screen with narration from a deep dark voice explaining  that it had witnessed evolution on earth and wishes to eradicate mankind because of it's capacity for violence and destruction.  The sound of a gunshot rings through the air and blood flashes across the pages.

We are first introduced to the United States Air Force pilot Hal Jordan whom, after a follow up of events comes into contact with an alien being known as Abin Sur.  Abin Sur warns Hal of a monstrous creature known as The Centre that seeks to destroy the human species.  Hal is given a green power ring which is considered to be the world greatest weapon.  This ring possesses the power of will.  Hal becomes the next Green Lantern and with his cosmic power is able to manifest anything left to the strength of his imagination.

At Gotham Observatory, scientist Dr. Saul Erdel inadvertently teleports a green alien being.  It is later revealed that this alien is the last surviving Green Martian of his race.  Unable to return to Mars, The Martian also known as J'onn J'onzz, who has the ability to shape shift takes on the identity of Dr. Saul who had died from a heart attack. J'onn J'onzz later plays a role as the Superhero widely known as the Martian Manhunter and helps earths heroes to defend themselves from the Centre.

The all star American hero Superman appears in confrontation with Wonder Woman. The two don't see eye to eye at first.  Superman who seems to follow the all American way sticks to the rules while Wonder Woman on the other hand seems to stand tall, and like a goddess and takes matters into her own hands.  The Flash on the other side of things is being targeted by government agents in order to learn the secret of his powers. Batman is considered to be a masked vigilante who is investing the doomsday cult that worships The Centre.

The Centre finally makes an appearance as an island and is protected by mutant dinosaurs that start to attack earth.  The Superheroes and soldiers are left to put their differences aside and work together to stop this common threat.

The art work  projects a 50s era with a good set of voice overs. The New Frontier was nominated for an Emmy in the category of Outstanding Animated Program (for Programming One Hour Or More) in 2008.  Each character is able to contribute equally and meaningfully with the traits they possesses, proving no matter how big or small or powerful ever Justice League member is a necessary element in insuring humanities survival.

The movies ends beautifully with the John F Kennedy Speech and we see the formation of the Justice League.

The film was written by Stan Berkowitz and the story and visual consultant was Darwyn Cooke.
